 Because every family and every birth experience is unique, we provide a variety of birth options.
- Labor and Delivery RNs are trained in a variety of techniques to guide and support the family choosing un-medicated labor and delivery.
- Labor rooms are equipped with tubs for hydrotherapy during labor, birthing balls, glider rockers, and wireless waterproof fetal monitoring so moms can move around during labor.
- Birth Doulas (non-medical birth assistants who offer emotional support and encouragement throughout labor and birth) are very welcome at the Family Birth Center. YVMC does not provide doula services. For more information on Doulas you can visit the Doulas of North America website.
- Acupuncture
- Epidural analgesia is available at the request of the laboring mother and discretion of the mother’s physician 24/7.
- Cesarean sections are provided on both a scheduled and emergent basis.
- VBAC’s (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) are not provided at YVMC.
- Following vaginal deliveries, infants are not separated from their mothers unless the infant’s health requires special care.
