YVMC is proud to sponsor an annual "Fall Into Health" Community Health Fair. The event will be held at Yampa Valley Medical Center and its campus on October 23, 2010 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

The Health Fair offers: low-cost blood work, free health screenings, free educational materials, and the opportunity for participants to speak with many healthcare providers regarding locally available services and programs.

People planning to have a blood tests should fast for 12 hours before their blood draw. Individuals with diabetes should not fast. Drink plenty of water. Black coffee and plain tea are OK, but no milk or sugar. Continue taking prescribed medications.

Here is a tentative list of screenings, and education stations for the 2010 YVMC Community Health Fair:

Low cost Blood tests 
    $30 -- includes cholesterol, glucose, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, liver function, kidney function, electrolytes, iron)
    $15 -- Complete Blood Count (white blood cell count, red blood cell count, hemoglobin, platelet, etc)
    $25 -- Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) for men only
    $25 -- Hemoglobin A1C* (measures average blood glucose, helpful for diabetes management)
    $10 -- Colocare take home kit
